I'll have to admit that writing on the blog has been something I have not been looking forward to this week. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE documenting each week so that one day I can pull these weekly posts out and show how in love we were with him from before the beginning. It's just that....well, my little boy is growing up! Every week that goes by means he's another week older. He is at an age that is PERFECT! If Carter could be 7 and a half months old forever, I would be thrilled.
Instead of writing, or even taking pictures, I have been devouring my time with him. I can't get enough of his smiles and hugs. His high-pitched screams and low "oooooohoooohhh." I struggle every day when I have to drop him off at daycare (which is secretly why I have been asking Travis to do it a few times a week.) I want so badly to have every minute of the day with him. Frowny face:(
He is looking more and more like a little boy. He dances by bobbing his head and wobbling his entire body. He laughs hysterically. He kicks his legs and screams when I walk into pick him up from daycare. He gives the BEST hugs and kisses.
I pray that one day, when Carter does read these words, he will be able to feel the heart-swelling love that I hold for him. Thank you, Lord, for my boy!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!
Carter experienced his first baseball game this weekend. It started at his bedtime, so Travis and I were prepared to leave at the first sign of trouble. Carter loved it-all the people, music, and noises. He wanted to walk around the stadium more than watch the game (typical kid).
Before we left for the game, we were at our nieces' birthday party. Gathered around with Travis's family, we kept getting the question, "Are you taking Carter with you to the game?" "Of course!" From the get-go, we knew that our lives would not change with a baby. Carter would just join us on the ride. With all the time I lose out on when he is at daycare and Travis is at work, I can't imagine not wanting to spend every available second with my husband and my son. I want to show him everything and teach him everything. I want to see his reactions to new experiences. I want to be the best mom possible. Who wouldn't when you get to look at a face like this everyday?!

A Day in the Life...
Hi! My name is Carter (as you know). My mom started teaching again and has had a busy few weeks. She looks tired when she comes home, but plays and plays with me until I fall asleep. She keeps telling me how much she misses me-whatever that means. To help her out, I decided to take over this week's post. I want to share with you what we did on a typical summer day. Here goes:
The first thing I do in the morning (besides getting changed and fed) is go to my mom and dad's room. Mommy and I lay on the bed and laugh. I get tickled (my favorite) and smooched (YUCK!). I am always anxious to see my brother, Hendrix. He's so cool! I wish he would hang out with me more.
Before it gets too hot, we check our garden for fresh fruits and vegetables. I can't wait to learn how to garden and mom can't wait until I learn to pull weeds. (P.S. Did you know I can sit up now?!)
Usually we go to visit Gpa K. Mom says he is her all-time favorite person. I can understand why. He is handsome too! I like his haircut. It's just like mine.
All day long, we swim and swing, walk and play with toys. I don't like naps. I won't take naps. But sometimes mom makes me. Stupid naps!
Finally, daddy comes home! I get really excited and sometimes squeal when I see him walk through the door. I want to grow up to be just like him. He has hair just like me, too!
Before I know it, the day is over and I am ready to rest. Mom reads me a few books. The very hungry caterpillar is my favorite and I have learned how to turn pages. We say our prayers and I get tucked in, but they better not forget to give me my lovey!!! *YAWN* Goodnight.

Misc.
What a week! Carter has been squeezing in as much fun as he can into the last few days of my summer vacation (sigh). Allow us to fill you in:
Carter had a blast at his first Vacation Bible School. It was supposed to be for ages 3 and up, but he has everyone wrapped around his finger. In reality, the church nursery has been his second home this summer-complete with crib, toys, changing table, and swing.
Carter visited the doctor and is perfect. This is not biased in any way ;-) Even the doctor thinks so! He weighs 18 pounds (46th percentile) and is 27 inches long (78th percentile). And for all of you who comment on his "large head," I'll have you know that his noggin is just the right size. We go tomorrow to get vaccination updates. Ouch!
Carter has been helping mommy get her classroom ready. We haven't gotten a lot done. Go figure!

Speaking of swings, I couldn't resist. I have been eyeballing this beauty for months just waiting for Carter to be old enough. Great Gpa hung it up this week at the lake and the little guy ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT! If you can picture it, he laughs everytime he comes toward someone and opens his mouth really wide with his tongue sticking out when he swings backwards. Best twenty bucks I've spent in a long time.
One of the most exciting things that happened this week was that Carter had his very first slumber party with his cousins. They swang, swam, and played until they crashed all together in the living room. Jaden insisted on sleeping next to Carter.
Last, but not least, Carter and mommy made their first trip to the zoo. He wasn't too interested in the animals, but loved the tall grasses, water wading pool, and following around his friends Trevor and Ms. Megan. I can't wait to take him back next year!
